Safety Leadership in Action — COMSOC 1

Designed for those responsible for driving safety on the ground, COMSOC 1 gives mine overseers, shift bosses, foremen and safety officers the legal knowledge and practical skills to implement an effective mine safety programme.

Who should attend:

Mine overseers, safety/loss control officers, shift bosses, foremen and line managers.

What you will learn:

Legal duties under the Mine Health and Safety Act, 1996
Hazard & threat identification, including surface and underground fires, flammable gases and hazardous chemicals
Accident/incident investigation and reporting
Planned inspections, task observations and critical area identification
Environmental control and coal mining hazards
Safety meetings and training evaluation

Advanced Safety Leadership — COMSOC 2

Building on COMSOC 1, this course deepens safety officers' and managers' knowledge to help them step confidently into senior safety leadership roles, fully aligned with the Mine Health and Safety Act.

Who should attend:

Safety officers, mine overseers, shift bosses and line managers who have completed COMSOC 1.

What you will learn:

Principles of safety management, risk management & auditing
Accident investigation, analysis & planned inspections
Emergency preparedness & explosives safety
Occupational health, hygiene & ergonomics
Communications, safety presentations & effective meetings
Functions and legal duties of a Chief Safety Officer
Trackless mining safety & security principles

Take Control of Workplace Safety — Practical Risk Assessment (HIRA)

Workplace hazards don't wait — and neither should your supervisors. This hands-on 3-day course gives supervisors the skills and confidence to proactively identify, assess, and control risks in line with South Africa's Health and Safety Act.
